Water Health and the Forest Connection: Tips & Tools to Study Local Water Resources

October 23, 2019 @ 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Water health and forest ecosystems go hand-in-hand, and school forests provide many opportunities for engaging students in learning about their environment. Whether in urban environments or the north woods, water is directly linked to trees and forests and connects these different parts of our state.  Join LEAF in your watershed to become inspired to teach about water at your school forest, or other local site. Participants will receive an overview of a variety of resources and curricula, including the Citizen Lake Monitoring Network, Water Action Volunteers, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Project WET and Project Learning Tree, LEAF, and the UWSP Center for Land Use Education. Participants will also learn about using Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) for underwater exploration and get to operate an ROV to check out the structures and life below the surface!
