Firearm Safety for Beginning Hunters

September 7, 2019 @ 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Designed for adults 18 and over who are new to hunting, this course provides knowledge, skills, and experience in firearm handling. Participants will begin by reviewing the rules of firearm safety and discussing various scenarios before working with non-firing replicas. The afternoon will include target shooting with actual firearms under the guidance of the instructor. While this course provides a full day of firearm handling for beginners, it is NOT a hunter safety course. Those who wish to be hunter safety certified should complete the online hunter safety course ($34.95).

Participants are encouraged to further explore the rich connection between hunting and conservation by attending a special Learn to Hunt Deer: Leopold Country weekend at the Leopold Center in October.

Registration will open in late summer. If you would like to be notified when registration opens, please join our email list.
