May 12, 2019 @ 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM

Turville History Tour with Ron Shutvet ~  Walk through Turville Point Conservation Park with local history buff Ron Shutvet. We will discuss the fascinating history of this area from pre-glacial times to the present. Learn of the generations of people who lived in this area, from early Native Americans to French fur traders, to the rich history of the Turville Family farm. During the late 1800s, the Turville family grew fresh produce and flowers and delivered them by boat to sell in downtown Madison. Do you know that President Theodore Roosevelt enjoyed staying at a cabin on the Turville farm when visiting Madison to do research in the Archives of the Wisconsin Historical Society? We’ll also talk about and enjoy the beauty of this unique 64-acre natural area just across the lake from downtown Madison.
